Daniel Payares-Montoya has extensive experience researching issues related to public policy and international development in Latin America. He is currently a research fellow at the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where his work focuses on the socio-economic and political impacts of globalization and industrialization in the Americas.

In the past, Mr. Payares-Montoya worked for think tanks including the Atlantic Council in the United States, the Jerusalem Institute in Israel, and the Private Council on Competitiveness in Colombia, providing recommendations on how to address competitiveness and productivity bottlenecks in Latin America to foster prosperity in the region. He also led joint work agendas with different stakeholders including governments, multilateral organizations, and the private sector to implement those recommendations. 

He holds a MSc in development practice from the University of California, Berkeley, a MSc in public policy from Universidadde Chile and a Bachelors in management engineering from EIA University in Colombia.
