Marija Marovic began her career as a student activist in Serbia, honing her organizing and leadership skills in a conflict zone. She is a highly capable project manager, with experience providing oversight and leadership of multi-million-dollar development budgets, developing staff capacity, and successfully launching operations for international organizations in Kenya and Sudan.

Marija works directly with local organizations on grant management and oversight. She has more than 20 years of technical experience in good governance, political participation, institutional reform, and social mobilization. Her areas of expertise include designing programs for social change, identifying early-stage community initiatives, and conducting rapid interventions to scale and amplify capacity. As an expert trainer and facilitator, Marija has worked with police and security services, education professionals, political activists, and civil society members. Specifically, she supports the development of civil society organizations and individual change-makers in East Africa. Marija is a recipient of a Humanity United grant for research. Additionally, she is quadrilingual, speaking Serbian, Croatian, English, and Arabic.
